UPDATE ON COVID-19
For now, Kohelet is monitoring the spread of COVID19, but, like other synogogues in the area, we remain open. We do recommend the following actions taken from the website of the Center for Disease Control:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe – Kohelet has antibacterial wipes on the kitchen counter for this purpose.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. This is burdensome, but we should do it.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty. Kohelet does not have hand sanitizer available due to lack of supply in local stores. If you have extra hand sanitizer to donate, please bring it.
Older adults and those who are medically ill may take additional precautions, including staying home as much as possible. See CDC link below for more information:

HELPING THE HOMELESS WITH SAMMY WEISER (Phil and Heidi's son)
Dear Kohelet Members,
For my Bar Mitzvah project, I am creating bags that people can give to the homeless. They have hand warmers, wipes, toothpaste, tissues, deodorant, bandaids, apple sauce, granola bars, chapstick, and a toothbrush in them. The bags only cost ten dollars, and all proceeds go into making more. Also, Purim is coming up and they will be great for Matanot L'evyonim or giving to the poor. If you would like to get a bag or bags to give out or would like to make a donation, please email me at sjweiser123@gmail.com or check my website Here’s to the future which has an order form.

GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT (1947 Oscar)
Director Elia Kazan and producer Darryl Zanuck caused a sensation with this spellbinding story which won 3 academy awards including Best Picture in 1947...
One of the first films to directly tackle racial prejudice. It stars Gregory Peck in his Oscar nominated role. As a journalist assigned to write a series of articles on ant-Semitism he searches for an angle and decides to pose as a Jew.
“Riveting”, “daring”,"most noteworthy”.

MEALS FOR THE HOMELESS EASTER MORNING
Sun., April 12 at 8:00 a.m. at Lowry Community Church
Members of Kohelet will once again be participating in the preparation and delivery of ~1500 meals for the homeless on Easter morning at Lowry Community Church (855 Yosemite). We plan to arrive at 8am on April 12. (Note: this is during Passover. The seders are on the preceding Wednesday and Thursday.) The work is usually finished between 11 and 12. You don't have to stay till the end, and you can arrive late. Those who participated in the past have universally found the experience to be rewarding. Please let Bennett (parnesb@gmail.com) know if you plan to join us--he will keep everyone posted on any last minute details or changes.
