ANNOUNCEMENTS

TISHA B'AV
Wed., July 29 at 8:00 p.m.

Tisha B'Av begins on Wednesday evening, July 29. It marks the destruction of the First and Second Temples and many other tragedies in Jewish history. It is a fast day and the lowest point in our calendar. It brings us hope, however, because from there our outlook improves. Kohelet will be observing Tisha B'Av by reading the book of Eicha (Lamentations) followed by a discussion. You will receive a Zoom link on Tuesday, July 28. Please try to be there.

PSALMS
We have been reading Psalms at Kohelet Shabbat services. We will continue here sequentially with excerpts and commentary.

Psalm 7
Often powerless again those who plan evil against us David says:
My G*d, in you I seek refuge and save me from all my pursuers. If I have wronged others then let the enemy overtake my soul and trample my life.  Yet, also judge and reward me according to my righteousness and integrity.
Justice will prevail as G*d is not fooled by outward pretense.  My protection lies with G*d Who saves the upright of heart.

Though we may feel powerless against our enemies, the righteous should be comforted in the knowledge they will be victorious and evildoers will  eventually be trapped by their own misdeeds.
