2021 ANNUAL MEETING
Dear Kohelet Congregation,
It's been a tough year, but Kohelet has continued functioning and offers community and spiritual support to many of us. Let's keep it going! Our annual meeting is coming up soon on January 31. Kohelet depends and thrives on all members pitching in. Please pitch in by clicking the links below for committee sign ups and Shabbat (including dvar torah) signups and put your name down for at least one committee. We cannot do this without you! If you have a topic that you would like to discuss at the annual meeting, please let Misty or I know.

NEW BABY
Kohelet offers the Kapnik family a hearty Mazel Tov on the birth of Hannah and Yoni's 3rd daughter. Mira Ta-ir was born at home in New York City, surrounded by her loving family on December 16th. All are healthy and thriving.

PSALMS
Here we ask God to be with us in difficult times. The repeated supplication is answered and we are comforted by God’s presence.
Psalm 20: May Hashem answer you on the day of distress. Help will come from His sanctuary. God will remember your offerings and grant your desires. We sing for joy at salvation and praise God. Chariots and horses come to rescue us from our pain.
We are invigorated as our King answers on the day we call.
This words of optimism supports us at all our times of need.
Our distress call will be answered by Hashem with signs and wonders and with an outstretched arm.

JEWS IN DIFFERENT TIMES AND PLACES

THE JEWS OF YEMEN
Isn’t it remarkable to learn how far back this history goes? “There are many legends detailing the story of how the Jews came to settle in Yemen. Some believe that the Jews arrived in Yemen after receiving an order from King Solomon to search for gold and silver for the construction of the Temple, in 900 BCE. However, according to Yemenite tradition, it is believed that the Jews migrated to Yemen when they heard of the impending destruction of the First Temple in 629 BCE."
